12005 BOUQUET

The Botanical Bouquets, both the Peony and Sunflower prints, came from two botanical plates originating from a collection entitled “Suites des Fleurs”, by French designer and printmaker, Charles Germain de Saint Aubin sometime around 1787. Son of royal embroiderer Gabriel-Germain de Saint-Aubin, Charles Germain de Saint Aubin was designer to King Louis XV, and five of his six brothers were also prominent French artists, designers, and printmakers, including Louis-Michel de Saint-Aubin, who designed for the famed Sevres porcelain factory. These plates are among the treasures of Redwood’s Charlotte Greenough Collection.
